My Favorite DIY Face Masks for Sensitive Skin

If you’re lucky enough to have sensitive skin as I do, your life is a never-ending quest for products that actually work but don’t trigger an allergic reaction. You know the drill – a gentle cleanser, the right make up, avoiding products with fragrance, and the like.

In my neverending pursuit for the safest, most effective products for sensitive skin, I stumbled upon the wonderful world of face masks. Let me tell you… I love face masks! No… I really LOVE face masks - whether in sheet form, clay, splash or gel. I can’t go a week without having my face mask fix. It’s the perfect treatment for anyone with a harried routine. It provides quick results.

Unfortunately, store-bought face masks and face products are either a hit or miss. And let’s be real, most of these products cost an arm! Which is why after trying tons of face masks, I’ve come to the conclusion that the safest and smartest bets are DIY face masks for sensitive skin!

DIY-ing your face mask doesn’t just save you a ton of money, it gets you in the natural groove of things as well. You leave a smaller carbon footprint and you know exactly what goes onto your face!

DIY Face Masks are a MUST for Sensitive Skin

A complete facial routine for anyone with sensitive skin must include a DIY face mask. More than just pinching pennies, DIY-ing your way to healthy, sensitive skin means you know exactly what goes on your face. It’s a breeze to make, and you can bet that it actually works. All you need is a few minutes, some pretty inexpensive ingredients, and a little nook for some R & R while you let the mask do its magic.

Yummy Yogurt Mask

Let me warn you… you will want to EAT this. DIY face masks for sensitive skin can’t get any easier (or more delectable!) than this yummy yogurt mask.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 tablespoon of yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder

How to prepare and apply:

Simply blend all the ingredients and apply all over your face with your fingertips. Leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly

Why it works for sensitive skin:

Those with sensitive skin know how prone they are to redness. Yogurt is the optimal base for a face mask because it has soothing skin proteins and contains probiotics. Cocoa powder, a flavanol, calms irritation. Honey, on the other hand, tightens the skin. This triad make a mighty (and might we say, delicious) army!

Matcha as an ingredient for skin products, contains many anti-inflammatory effects.
